Greg Abbott

Greg Abbott is a 2018 Republican candidate seeking re-election to the office of Governor for the State of Texas. Abbott was born in Wichita Falls and was paralyzed from the waist down when a tree fell on him in Houston in 1984 while he was jogging, when he was a 26-year-old lawyer. He earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration in Finance from the University of Texas in 1981, and went on to receive is J.D. from Vanderbilt University Law School in 1984. Abbott has served as a state district judge, a Texas Supreme Court justice, Attorney General for the State of Texas (2002 to 2014) and was elected Governor in 2015.  Abbot is an Adjunct Professor of Texas Constitutional Law for the University of Texas School of Law.  Abbott is also a member of the Advisory Board for Career and Recovery Resources Inc, a member of the Central Texas Chapter of Goodwill Industries and a member of Justice for All.
