John Burns

John Burns is a 2018 Republican candidate seeking election to the position of Justice of the Peace Precinct 4.  He served in the U.S. Navy for 5 years then in the Navy Reserves for an additional 17 years, and has been a practicing attorney for twenty years.   While serving in the Navy Reserves, he worked as a medical research scientist for almost 13 years. Burns earned his Master’s of Science degree in Microbiology in 1982, his PhD from Baylor College of Medicine in 1988, and his J.D. in 1997. Burns opened his law practice in 2013 after having represented Applied Biosystems/Life Technologies as a Senior Patent Attorney, Director of Ambion Legal and Senior Direct of Contracts; and Advanced Tissue Sciences as General Counsel and Patent Counsel.
