John Thomaides

John Thomaides, Mayor of the city of San Marcos, is native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has lived in San Marcos since 1993. He is the owner and General Manager of the Alpha Pure Water Company. His political service began when he was elected five times by to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem and was then elected to the San Marcos City Council in 2003 where he continued to serve until his election as Mayor of San Marcos on December 13, 2016. He is currently a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors serving on the Environment and Infrastructure Committees, the National League of Cities University Communities Council and also serves as the city’s representative for the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization as well as the city’s Finance and Audit Committee.
