Co-op offers fresh, local vegetables & meat

Wednesday, October 24, 2018

Fresh, local and sustainably-grown produce and meat is a little easier to find in San Marcos these days with the Central Texas Farmers Co-op, a cooperative of small, sustainable farmers in Hays, Caldwell, Blanco and Travis counties. The Co-op offers Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) memberships that give members access to fresh produce, often harvested the day before they receive it. CSA members get to have a direct relationship with their farmers and have the assurance that their food is being produced in a way that respects natural resources and supports local economy. Central Texas Farmers Co-op representatives distribute and sell fresh produce at Buzz Mill San Marcos every Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. Those interested in signing up for prorated fall meat or vegetable CSA memberships can speak to a representative at Buzz Mill or email info@centraltexasfarmers.com. CSA produce often has vegetables that can't be found at a grocery stores, like shishito peppers, pumpkin blossoms, hakurei turnips and mini eggplants.

Central Texas Farmers Co-op's Meat CSA provides pasture-raised, rotationally grazed, high quality chicken, pork and beef  from small, local farmers Blue Earth Farm, Boxcar Farm & Garden and River Bottom Farms. For more info go to the Central Texas Farmers Co-op's website.
