Live Oak Health Partners Specialty Care clinic added orthopedic surgeon Christopher L. Jimenez, MD to its team. He joins Dr. Amanda Ivy to provide complete orthopedic and sports-related medical care to residents of Hays County and the surrounding areas.

“As a San Antonio native, I am excited to move closer to home to serve the San Marcos and Hays County communities,” Jimenez said. “I am passionate about orthopedic medicine and am looking forward to joining a group of talented, compassionate healthcare providers at Live Oak Health Partners.”

Jimenez, who is fluent in English and Spanish, brings years of orthopedic experience to Live Oak Health Partners having practiced in Chicago, Utah, California and, most recently, Austin. He specializes in total joint replacements of the hip and knee and revision of failed total joint replacements of the hip and knee.

“We continue to grow as our community does,” Live Oak Health Partners Physician Practice Administrator Brent Hastings said. “Adding physicians like Dr. Jimenez, reinforces our goal of meeting the medical needs of the area’s rapidly growing population with the highest quality of care.”

Like other Live Oak Health Partners surgeons, Jimenez will perform surgeries at Central Texas Medical Center where he has access to technology-integrated and state-of-the-art operating rooms.

Jimenez earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas in San Antonio and his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. His orthopedic residency at the University of Utah offered him the opportunity to learn from distinguished faculty where he learned different techniques for hip preservation and joint replacement surgeries, as well as management of traumatic limb injuries.

Before moving to Austin, Jimenez completed a prestigious fellowship with Dr. Joel Matta and Dr. Edward McPherson in Santa Monica, California. There, he learned advanced techniques for anterior approach total hip replacement, total knee replacement and revision surgeries. He also had extensive training in management of acetabular and pelvic trauma and hip preservation surgery during his fellowship.
