Artist Naveen Shakil blends a stroke of white into the mural she is completing on the back of the Spalsh Coworking building in downtown.  Splash Coworking will unveil the newest addition to the city's growing list of murals this evening at 6:30 p.m. Daily Record photo by Denise Cathey

New mural to make a splash downtown

Join Splash Coworking as they share the completion of a brand new mural by International artist Naveen Shakil

As a senior designer for The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. with a background in architecture, Shakil has brought high-caliber perspective, skill and interpretation to the composition and design of her mural. Having visited San Marcos briefly in fall of 2017 and then meeting local residents recently during her opening reception, she was able to incorporate her experience and understanding of San Marcos into her mural. The cool waters of the San Marcos River also gave her truth to the essence of San Marcos and the identity the community shares with the river.

Be a part of the final signature this evening at 6:30 p.m. at Splash Coworking, 326 North LBJ Dr., when the Shakil adds the final stroke of paint to the mural. There will be an immediate group picture to follow.

Prompt attendance is encouraged to witness the final touch and cheers to the completion of Shakil's imprint on San Marcos.

Come toast with a few nibbles along with tasty treats for purchase by Cafe Azteca. Special thanks to The city of San Marcos mural program and Craft Hustler for making this possible.
