‘Reflections of the Springs’ Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band to present concert Sept. 19
Kicking off the 2021-22 season, the Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band will present a concert on Sept. 19. Hosted by The Price Center and Gardens, the program will begin at 5 p.m. The concert is open to the public, but suggested reservations can be made via The Price Center, at 512-392-2900.
‘Reflections of the Springs’ will consider several aspects of San Marcos’ famous springs through music. Beginning with its creation, inhabitants, and recreational qualities, there will be selections performed inspiring reflections of the springs.
Whether known as Spring Lake or Aquarena Springs, or the headwaters of the San Marcos River, the beauty of the source has provided, sustained, entertained and remains a constant for all to enjoy.
The 35-piece wind ensemble comprised of volunteer musicians, rehearses every Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church, San Marcos.
Wind and percussion players ages 18 to 83 make up the group membership. New musicians from San Marcos and beyond are encouraged to dust off their old high school or college instruments and join in.
The band also welcomes area high school students (ages 16 and up) to become a part of San Marcos’ first ever community band.
