Dr. Rex Cole, after 48 years of practicing Ophthalmology in the community, has announced he will retire from active practice with Central Texas Eye Center on Sept. 6. Dr. Cole’s retirement comes with the announcement of Dr. Amenze Osa Oriaifo joining the ophthalmology practice.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Osa to our practice," Dr. Joshua Hu said. "She provides a great blend of top-notch clinical education and knowledge with a strong passion for providing community-based care. I also expect that she will be an active member of the community and that will be evident over the course of the months and years to come."

Dr. Oriaifo obtained her medical degree at the Ohio State University College of Medicine. She then completed her residency at the Ohio State University and its affiliated Wexner Medical Center. Thereafter, she chose to pursue further training and subspecialize in glaucoma with a fellowship at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. Upon completion of her fellowship, she plans to join the  Central Texas Eye Center.

“I am so happy to be joining the Central Texas Eye Center team and the San Marcos and surrounding communities,” she said. “I look forward to building long-lasting relationships with my patients and becoming active in these South Austin communities, spreading awareness about eye health, including glaucoma and diabetes.”

Serving Central Texas since 1971, Central Texas Eye Center is committed first and foremost to the idea that every patient should be treated with compassion and fairness. Their physicians are board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology, and their sub-specialists are fellowship trained at quality institutions in the United States.
