Chamber of Commerce wins Partner of the Month

The City of San Marcos Main Street Program is proud to announce the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce as the August Downtown Partner of the Month.

Since 1903, the chamber has provided a wealth of resources to local businesses through leadership, educational opportunities and business advocacy. The chamber currently serves and represents more than 700 members, roughly equaling 13,000 individuals within the community.

The chamber is membership-driven and also works as a voice for the community-at-large. For example, the chamber was a driving force behind providing a portion of the funding for the Iconic Village Apartment reward.

The San Marcos Main Street Program chooses one downtown establishment each month for the Downtown Partner of the Month award. The award is presented to an institution that exemplifies the following eight criteria: Growth, staying power, innovation, response to adversity, contribution to community-oriented projects, marketing and promotional efforts, curb appeal and beautification.

San Marcos was designated in 1986 as an official Main Street City by the Texas Historical Commission and the National Trust for Historic Preservation and remains one of the oldest Main Street programs in the state. The vision of the San Marcos Main Street Program is to foster a downtown that is a unique and culturally vibrant destination, where local businesses thrive and people of all ages can connect, create and celebrate.
