On Sunday, Dec. 17 Santa Claus will be at the historic Kyle rail depot and Marie Bassett will be reading Christmas stories specially chosen for children.

Parents are welcome to capture the event on their own cameras. It’s also the perfect time to explore the 100 year old depot and take a look at the 1922 wooden caboose that is being restored.

Union Pacific trains frequently roar by the depot to add more excitement to the event. The Kyle depot is located just under the historic Kyle water tower in downtown Kyle. The event runs from 1 to 5 p.m. and winds up the second annual Christmas celebration at the restored railroad landmark.

The depot and events are managed by the Hays County Historical Commission. Last Sunday the Lehman High School theater group presented an enactment of the famous Christmas story, Polar Express.
