CTMC's Women's Council holds luncheon
The Central Texas Medical Center Foundation Women’s Council will hold its annual luncheon on Wednesday, Aug. 8 at the San Marcos Activity Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is an opportunity for new members of the council to meet other members and learn about the programs served by the council’s fundraising efforts.
The Women’s Council is a philanthropic committee of the CTMC Foundation. Its mission is to encourage women to strengthen and invest in the community by promoting programs and services benefitting women and children. The group is committed to empowering women to serve both as donors and decision makers.
Since forming in 2010, the Women’s Council funded grants for 17 agencies totaling $115,000.
The funds were given to several local nonprofits that focus on meeting the needs of women and children in Hays County.
The guest speaker at the luncheon will be Jennifer Moriarty, founder of Moriarty Counseling and former vice president of community development for Wells Fargo. Moriarty is a graduate of Texas State University and Leadership Texas.
“We are pleased to begin a new season with opportunities to help local organizations and programs that make a difference for women and children in Hays County,” said CTMC Foundation Director Jerilyn Miller.
Some of the initiatives the grants have funded include teaching math skills to dyslexic children, self-sufficiency programs for families and adolescent girls, a literacy program for children ages 0-5 and mental health counseling services. The funds raised by the Women’s Council also support the CTMC Women’s Center.
Attendees should RSVP before July 25 to Jerilyn.Miller@ahss.org.
