Shades of Green Tea

The members of the Phi Xi Omega Graduate Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., recently held its biennial Shades of Green Tea. 

The tea was hosted with two members of the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, Dick’s Classic Garage Car Museum and A+ Federal Credit Union

Phi Xi Omega Chapter is also a member of the San Marcos Chamber. The Shades of Green Tea is one of Phi Xi Omega's signature fundraising events that support community service projects and scholarships in the San Marcos and surrounding areas. 

The theme of this event was “Empowering Women Economically” with an emphasis on financial literacy. 

One of the sorority’s national initiatives, family strengthening, highlights working with organizations and families to help increase their understanding of budgeting, basic financial planning and benefits of home ownership. 

Two members of A+ Federal Credit Union delivered an interactive and informative presentation at the Tea on the importance of aligning your financial budget to your values and goals as well as using technology to assist in money management.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., founded on the campus of Howard University, Jan. 15, 1908, is the oldest of the four Historically Black sororities with over 250,000 members in more than 1,000 chapters nationwide. Alpha Kappa Alpha’s reach is International with chapters not only in the Unites States but also in countries such as England, Africa and Asia. 

The current Inwwternational program theme is “Launching New Dimensions of Service.”

Phi Xi Omega Chapter has served the San Marcos community since 2000. Since its establishment, members of the chapter are committed to projects that foster and promote sisterhood, scholarship and service. 

PXO focuses on sponsoring programs that are beneficial to the San Marcos community and the surrounding counties.
