Enrollment for Master Naturalists

Registration for the Hays County Master Naturalist Class for 2018 opens from Nov. 27, 2017 to Jan. 5, 2018. This certification program is offered only one time per year in Hays County.

As a Master Naturalist, you join a corps of volunteers dedicated to learning about the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas. Students and graduates of this program volunteer for over 50 projects around Hays County such as Jacob’s Well in Wimberley, the Greenbelt Alliance in San Marcos and Charro Ranch Park in Dripping Springs – volunteers decide based on their interests.

Classes run February - October and are rotated throughout the county. Ten classes are on Tuesday evenings from 6 - 9:30 p.m. with dinner included. Two classes are held on Saturday mornings in the field. There are also additional field trips and site visits for hands-on experience.

Tuition is $175 and there are a few $100 scholarships for Hays County residents. Applying early in the registration period is recommended, since enrollment is limited and based on when applications are received. Applications must include a nonrefundable $25 deposit, which will be applied toward the tuition.

Contact the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office or visit the Hays County Master Naturalist website haysmn.org for an application or more information on the Texas Master Naturalist Program.
