The annual Founders Day Festival came and went this past weekend, celebrating Dripping Springs’ heritage and pioneer spirit.

This was the 33rd year for the festival and the first since the COVID-19 pandemic. Dripping Springs’ biggest community event, the three-day celebration was hosted by the city and its Founders Day Commission. The threeday celebration officially kicked off with the Anniversary Parade on Friday, April 22, and concluded late in the afternoon on Sunday, April 24.

This year’s parade theme was “Drippin' Through the Decades.” The parade featured floats of all shapes and sizes, including antique vehicles, a trolley car and even a giant shopping cart — thanks to supermarket chain HEB. Participants included city officials, local businesses, student and youth organizations and, most notably, a mariachi band.

Dripping Springs Independent School District Board of Trustees candidates were also represented with their own floats, drawing attention for the upcoming election on May 7.

Additional activities included a carnival, vendor booths and a community church service on Sunday morning. Music and entertainment were available throughout the weekend with over a dozen artists performing live.
