Sunday, August 25, 2019

The Heart Of Texas Chorus has a goal to keep the love of singing four-part harmony alive for generations to come.

The Heart Of Texas Chorus is one of more than 700 chapters which comprise the nearly 20,000 member Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. The BHS and its chapters provide high-level education classes for members and non-members, as well as numerous outreach programs for school music educators and students.

Locally, the Heart Of Texas Chorus has been honored on two occasions with the “Key to the City” for producing the inspirational “United We Sing” concert, a free community service event that pays tribute to the men and women of the military, for 15 consecutive years. The Heart of Texas Chorus was also the recipient of the Arts Advocacy Award from the San Marcos Arts Commission in 2017.

The chorus has earned the highly-coveted “Finalist” ranking nine times while representing Central Texas in the annual BHS International Chorus Contests.

Every year during the holiday season, the Heart of Texas Chorus can be found bringing holiday cheer in song to residents of local retirement homes. Additionally, the chorus has performed at Sights and Sounds of Christmas every year since 1998.

The Heart of Texas Chorus performs for all types of business, organizational and entertainment events, and can tailor a program to fit almost any program.
