It's the 'Great Pumpkin Dash'

On Saturday, Oct. 21, starting at 9 a.m., the San Marcos Kiwanis Club will host the fourth annual Great Pumpkin Dash at San Marcos Toyota.

The Great Pumpkin Dash is touted as a fun 5k run and kids fun run. The dash is held the Saturday before Halloween and participants are encouraged to dress and run in costume. There will be a prize for Best Costume and participants even pass by an old cemetery during the course.

Pre-registration for the charity event is $25 through October 20, 2017 at 12 p.m. Registration may be completed online. Late registration can be done the day of the race for $35. The Kids Fun Run is $10 online and on the day of the race. All participants that register by Oct. 11 will receive a long-sleeved high-tech T-shirt. Shirts will be available for those registering after the Oct. 11 or on race day while as supplies last.

Members of The Kiwanis Club accepted a sponsor check from San Marcos Toyota's General Manager and Sales Administrator Lena Ruble last Friday.

Awards will be presented to the best male and female overall, Masters (over 40), Senior Masters (50-59) , Grand Master (60 and over) champions and to the top three finishers in each age group. Age groups include 19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70 and over.
