The Journey Continues: The Charles Schulze Philosophy

Sunday, October 25, 2020

My journey this week takes me to a column titled “The Charles Schulz Philosophy” which I read years ago, a derivative of the Peanuts by Charles Schulz comic strip. As the columnist said, “You don’t have to actually answer the questions…just ponder on them. Read the questions straight through, and you will get the point.”

Name the five wealthiest people in the world.

Name ten people who have won the Nobel or Pulitzer Prize.

Name a decade’s worth of NFL winners,

Name the winners of the last ten Presidential elections.

Name the last five Heisman trophy winners.

— The point is most of us do not remember the answers; we have a hard enough time remembering yesterday’s news.

But, the columnist wrote, “Here’s another quiz. See how you do on this one.”

Think of five people you enjoy spending time with.

Name three friends who have helped you through a difficult time.

Recall the name(s) of teachers who aided your journey through school.

Name a few people who have made you feel special and appreciated.

Name the place and person who taught you a worthwhile lesson about life.

— “Easier? Yes, because you are recalling the people in your life who were caring; or the mentors who really cared for you; or the life lesson that helped you on your journey in a career, a marriage, or; sometimes, even turned you around from seeking after the wrong goal.

Charles Schulz was a favorite of my generation; but the favorite cartoonist today maybe appears on emails or Tick-Tock. I remind you; God is no respecter of persons… He Loves. And if you seek Him, He is always there. In 1 Peter 5:7 (KJV) — “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.” No matter your worry, troubles, care, He careth for YOU.
