Police trade badges for serving aprons

Wednesday, July 17, 2019

Local police will be trading in their badges for serving aprons at Texas Roadhouse on Thursday, July 25 between 5 and 9 p.m. for Tip-A-Cop Night, an annual statewide fundraiser that benefits Special Olympics Texas (SOTX).

The 12th annual event is part of a statewide effort with dozens of other Texas Roadhouse locations holding fundraisers the same evening. The public is encouraged to come out and dine at the San Marcos Texas Roadhouse, 1502 South Interstate 35, and “Tip A Cop” for their dedicated effort to support SOTX athletes. All donations given to the officers will help fund SOTX programming, competition and training for more than 4,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities in the Central Texas area.

Over the past few years, San Marcos’ Texas Roadhouse has raised almost  $3,400 at this event for Special Olympics Texas. This event operates under the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR), which is SOTX’s largest grass-roots fundraiser.
