The Steel Magnolias return for a hometown show

On Sunday, April 15, the Steel Magnolias, headquartered in San Marcos, will present a fully choreographed concert at the Westover Baptist Church during the 10:45 a.m. morning worship service. The public is invited to this free worship event.

This church, pastored by Jeff Latham, is the headquarters for the Steel Magnolia’s weekly rehearsals since their former “barn” practice hall was sold in 2015.

The Steel Magnolias have sung throughout the United States for the past 12 years. They’ve sung along the east coast twice; a recent tour was 16-days traveling as far north as Niagara Falls, singing 43 times through 15 states, covering 4,600 miles. They presented 13 “Flash Mobs,” including New York City at Radio City Music Hall, Rockefeller Center, Times Square, Liberty Island Ferry, the new One World Trade Center, and invited to sing at the Billy Graham Library and Samaritan’s Purse in North Carolina.

The Steel Magnolias have traveled through middle America and one of their favorite highlights was to sing at the Calhoun County Jail in Anniston, Alabama, where the Steel Magnolias were featured on the Birmingham News Station WEAC TV 24. On that same concert tour, the ladies presented five concerts at a three-day Virginia Beach Gospel Music Festival in Virginia.

They just returned from another 16-day tour in October, to the Pacific Northwest, traveling through 12 U.S. states, plus Victoria, British Columbia. They covered over 5,800 miles presenting 30 Gospel Music concerts in churches, community centers, VA hospitals, prisons, plus “flash mobs” throughout the tour.

They will be departing on a 10-day tour through Arkansas, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Washington D.C. on April 27. Their 2018 theme is: Sharing Jesus with urgency.

These ladies present as many as 155 volunteer concerts a year. They do not charge nor ask for a love offering.

Pastor Jeff Latham, and the congregation of Westover Baptist Church, invite the public to come join the Steel Magnolias in worship as they present a special gospel music program on Sunday morning. The church is located at 1310 Advance Street, for more information call the church at 512-353-4663 or Debbie Daniels at 512-757-4901.
