Dustin Massey is a self-proclaimed Texas red-dirt rocker new to Americana scene music, but he’s certain to stick around.

Following the success of his debut single “Pretty Okay,” the Fort Worth singer-songwriter will begin a mini-tour starting at the Cheatham Street Warehouse on May 15, co-headlining with singer Austin Upchurch.

“Cheatham Street’s a pretty iconic place,” Massey said. “I spent all my teenage years loving and following everyone in the Texas/Oklahoma red-dirt scene. Gruene Hall, Cheatham Street, all those kinds of places that you hear about all your favorite artists playing. To be headlining Cheatham Street Warehouse feels really cool. We’re really excited about it.”

Starting with the show at Cheatham Street, Massey will continue to DallasFort Worth, New Mexico, Fort Collins, Co. and back to Texas.

Having grown up playing music since he was young, Massey broke into the Americana-rock scene in 2018. Then in 2019, after playing acoustic shows with his band, Massey recorded an album and prepared to tour throughout Texas and Colorado to support it. Then COVID-19 happened.

Undaunted, Massey said, “We’re getting back into it now. People seem like they’re craving lives shows. We’re looking forward to hitting a new normal that’s somewhat like the old.”

Massey’s current dates are as follows, with additional appearances to be confirmed in the coming weeks:

May 15 — San Marcos at Cheatham Street Warehouse with Austin Upchurch

June 10 — Dallas at The Rustic with Steel Woods

June 11 — Fort Worth at Tulips with Emily Wolfe

June 23 — Aztec, N.M. at Tico Resort with Sam Riggs

June 24 — Fort Collins, Col. at Aggie Theater with Sam Riggs

July 10 — Fort Worth at Rockin’ the River Music Series

In addition to looking forward to the Cheatham Street show and the launch of the mini-tour, Massey is excited to share a new single in June at a release show that has been in the works for several months.

‘Pretty Okay’ was a song of the times,” Massey said. “People were doing not great, we were only pretty okay. It’s catchy, a nice introduction. Our next one is more of a summer single, more energetic, more like kicking-the door-in rock.”

Massey is looking forward to playing more live shows and connecting with fans across Texas and beyond.

“I feel like people in San Marcos and at Texas State feel like really, if you put on a good show, and you’re humble, and it’s all about the music, then you’ll get a lot of support,” Massey said. “More than anything, we really love coming down there to come play in the Austin area. There’s something really special about San Marcos. We know how cool Cheatham Street Warehouse is. We want to bring our best and leave there with more fans and supporters. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

Further tour dates and information about the new single will be announced soon. Follow along on Dustin Massey’s social media pages for new additions.
