Tickets on sale for Broadway in Austin’s ‘Mean Girls’

Sunday, May 22, 2022

Texas Performing Arts will present Broadway In Austin’s musical “Mean Girls” from Aug. 2 – 7 at Bass Concert Hall.

“Mean Girls” is a record-breaking musical comedy produced by Lorne Michaels, Stuart Thompson, Sonia Friedman and Paramount Pictures.

Based on the hit film, “Mean Girls” makes its Austin debut as part of the part of Texas Performing Arts’ 2021-22 Broadway in Austin Season.

“Mean Girls” features a book by nine-time Emmy Award winner Tina Fey, based on her screenplay for the film, music Jeff Richmond; and lyrics by Nell Benjamin. Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw directs and choreographs.

“Mean Girls” originally opened on Broadway in April 2018 at the August Wilson Theatre, following its world premiere at the National Theatre in Washington, DC, in the fall of 2017.

The main character is Cady Heron, a teenager who relocates to the United States after growing up in the African savanna. Nothing can prepare Cady for the wild ways of her new home: suburban Illinois. As the plot unfolds, audiences will witness how this naïve newbie rises to the top of her social pecking order by taking on The Plastics, a trio of lionized frenemies led by the ruthless Regina George.

Tickets for “Mean Girls” start at $35 and are available at texasperformingarts.org and BroadwayinAustin.com, by phone at 512-477-1444, or from the Texas Performing Arts ticket office at Bass Concert Hall. For groups of 10 or more, call 877-275-3804 or email Austin. groups@broadwayacrossamerica.com
