When art starves hunger

The San Marcos High School Art Department and Aquabrew joined forces to host the annual Empty Bowl Fundraiser for the benefit of the Hays County Food Bank Tuesday night. High school student Jourdan Gamez helps attendees of this year's Empty Bowl Fundraiser choose a bowl from the dozens created by ceramics students throughout the year.

Bowls ranging in price of $10 or $20 were sold to attendees and each purchased bowl or donation was met with a complimentary bowl of chili and a thick slab of cornbread provided by Aquabrew.

Students from San Marcos High School's Jazz Ensemble and salsa band Orquesta Cascabel provided music on Aquabrew's outside stage.

San Marcos High School student Sarah Allee helps Melissa Waltson-Sanchez and her daughters browse the tables full of bowls. All proceeds went to the Hays County Food Bank’s Turkeys Tackling Hunger campaign.
