Landscape reflects changes that come with development
The Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band will honor veterans with a musical program on Thursday, Nov. 10. The program will be in conjunction with the two-year anniversary of the founding of ASSB by Musical Director, Michael L. Thielen. The free concert will begin at 7 p.m., and will be held at First Baptist Church, located at 325 W. McCarty Lane.
Texas State’s Department of Theatre and Dance presents the premiere of “Amber Jar Chrysanthemum,” a new creative work, on Nov. 8 - 13 and Nov. 17 - 19 in the PSH Foundation Studio Theatre.

Since 2018, Superbells Double calibrachoa varieties have won 67 awards, yet in my travels gardeners seem to rarely venture off the single-petaled path. I admit I have a flaming passion for the punch varieties like Superbells Grape Punch, Pomegranate Punch and Black Currant Punch. The last four years, however, I have gotten to try some double selections and they have all blown away any misconceptions I might have had and probably yours, too.

You really can’t keep us away from Mexican food.
As I write this, I am on day 211 of hummingbirds feeding at The Garden Guy’s house. I don’t use feeders, just plants. This year has opened my eyes about their choices in plants. For instance, today which is Oct. 30, marking the longest date on the calendar that I have had them, until hopefully tomorrow and the day after The year started off fast and blooming, and then March 13, we plummeted to 21 degrees when most everything was in bloom. But things quickly rebounded and my first Ruby-throated hummingbirds showed up April 3.
The Riverwalk Park Committee will take the opportunity to celebrate Texas Arbor Day by planting a tree to honor France and Ted Breihan at Veramendi Plaza Park on Thursday, Nov. 3. This event begins at 5 p.m. in Veramendi Plaza Park and is open to the public.
