The VFW would also thanked the youngest member of the VFW Auxiliary — Adelina Flores — along with Mike Flores, Commander Stephanie Brown, Abril Flores, Kathy Prather, for serving food for veterans provided by Chuy’s. VFW post 3413 also thanked Gy. Sgt. Sean Turner and Sgt. Aaron Jasso for collecting the box of toys that the VFW Auxiliary and VFW had collected for Toys for Tots.
I remind myself that the purpose of my column is about people and their relationship with Jesus Christ. With the impact the COVID-19 has had on our world, we now spend less time outside the home. It follows we have more time for reflection, Bible study, and prayer. We can meditate on how we can live in “peace within” no matter what challenges we face. The world is calling Believers to be genuine as we “practice what we preach.”

How can a story so hopeless as the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice possibly deliver a message of hope? For those unfamiliar with the story, it goes something like this: Orpheus and Eurydice are in love, yet on their wedding day, Eurydice is fatally bitten by a snake. Distraught, Orpheus goes into the Underworld to plead with Hades and Persephone to see his bride released back to the living world.
