Hays takes down Dripping Springs
Hays blocked Dripping Springs' game-tying extra-point attempt with 10 seconds left in the fourth quarter to secure a 35-34 win at Bob Shelton Stadium in Buda on Friday.
The Rebels (2-0) and Tigers (1-1) battled back-and-forth throughout the game.
Hays went ahead 35-28 late in the fourth quarter when senior quarterback Xavier Martinez scored on a 1-yard run.
Dripping Springs drove down the field looking to even the score.
Tiger senior quarterback Tanner Prewitt connected with senior wide receiver Parker Alford on a 3-yard touchdown pass to bring Dripping Springs to within 35-34.
But the blocked extra-point attempt sealed the game for Hays.
Dripping Springs hosts New Braunfels Canyon on Friday at 7:30 p.m., while Hays has the week off.
