Seventeen years after a day most everyone who was alive then will never forget, people are still dying from the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Traffic tie-up

Traffic slowed to a crawl along the southbound lanes of Interstate 35 Thursday morning after a gravel truck lost its load just south of Posey Road near the Hays/Comal county line.

Flags were at half staff at the VFW Post 3413 on Hunter Road Monday, and a message board paid tribute to Senator John McCain, who passed away Saturday. Flags were also at half staff at county offices and some private businesses around town; but not at the U. S. Post Office nor city offices. The White House had its flag at half-staff Sunday but raised to full staff Monday. The White House didn’t issue a proclamation for other federal officers to lower flags out of respect until mid-afternoon.
