The Gary Job Corps Community Relations Council and Green Group Holdings recently sponsored a Public Works Departments Appreciations Luncheon at Kent Black’s BBQ for the cities of Kyle, Luling, Lockhart and San Marcos. Representatives of the water, electric and road departments were recognized for their service to community, sometimes in the most adverse of conditions. San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson and Lockhart City Councilman Juan Mendoza also shared their thanks for their service. Elva Zdeb, Gary Community Relations Council president, addressed the audience with the thanks from the community and the Gary Job Corps Center for their services. “You are called to service sometimes in the most adverse of conditions and you always show up to restore power, fix water issues, or repair roads that were taken out during our flooding situations,” she said.
