Monday, June 21, 2021

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory Monday as “very high” heat index values are expected during the afternoon and early evening hours.

The advisory begins for San Marcos and the surrounding region at noon and stretches through 8 p.m. as the NWS forecasts heat indexes between 105-113 degrees.

The NWS states that people spending time outdoors should take frequent breaks inside or in the shade, drink plenty of water and wear light weight and loose fitting clothes.

The NWS says people should stay out of the sun on Monday, check up on relatives and neighbors, and young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

This evening, a cold front is expected to push through the area. The NWS states scattered thunderstorms will develop and isolated severe weather is possible with damaging wind being the main hazard.
