Big turnout expected for Bobcat Build on April 13

Tuesday, April 2, 2019

Approximately 5,000 Texas State students, faculty and staff are expected to participate in the 17th annual Bobcat Build community volunteer event Saturday, April 13.

Bobcat Build is a one-day, student-led community service project organized by the Office of Student Involvement’s Bobcat Build Student Planning Committee. The mission of Bobcat Build is to create a Texas State tradition of pride through a day of service that builds awareness, community and tradition.

The program started as a way for the students to thank the community for allowing Texas State to continue to be a part of the city of San Marcos. The program has grown to become the second-largest of its kind in Texas. Each year, new volunteers and returning members line up to participate in Bobcat Build.

Bobcat Build has extended its reach to encompass communities beyond San Marcos, and now includes job sites in Wimberley, Driftwood, Martindale and New Braunfels. Projects at the 300 area job sites include painting residential homes, yard work, outside beautification and working with non-profit organizations.
