Casting call for teenage girls upcoming in Austin

Vicky Boone Casting is conducting a casting search for a Texas-area girls, age 12-14, to play lead and supporting roles in an upcoming feature film called “Bull.”

“Bull” has received top level support from The Sundance Institute (Screenwriter’s Lab, Directors Lab, Producers Fellowship, Catalyst Program). It is written and directed by Annie Silverstein and produced by Monique Walton. Together Silverstein and Walton created the short film “Skunk” that won first prize at Cannes-Cinéfondation in 2014. As a result of this win, Bull will premiere at the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival.

They are looking for 12-14 year old girls who fit this description: strong spirited, rough and tumble, creative, impulsive and independent.

Previous acting experience is not required. They are looking for real middle school girls so this is a great opportunity for girls with a wide variety of experiences. If cast, girls will be paid on the level of professional actors.

They will have an open casting call on Saturday, Sept. 30, at Austin Studios, Red Building, 1901 E. 51st Street, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.  They will audition girls on a firstcome, first served basis so no appointment is necessary. The audition will consist of a short conversation with a member of the casting team, so there is nothing to prepare in advance. Just show up and have fun.

Interested parties may email a picture in advance to, but this is not required.

Being a part of this film will be a wonderful opportunity for a young person. Both Silverstein and Walton are former youth workers, and this deeply influences their approach to working with young people.

Vicky Boone has cast many film including “Where Did You Go, Bernadette?” (starring Cate Blanchette), “The Tree of Life” (starring Brad Pitt) and “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints” (starring Casey Affleck).
