County to tackle road work, crossing monitors

Tuesday, December 4, 2018

Road bond work and low water crossing monitor repairs are on the agenda for the Hays County Commissioners Court this morning.

The court is expected to take action on a professional services agreement for plans, specifications and estimates work for intersection improvements at State Highway 21 and Farm to Market Road 1966. The intersection work is part of the county’s 2016 road bond program.

Commissioners are also expected to consider authorizing the Office of Emergency Services to repair low water crossing monitoring equipment at Woodacre Drive, Old Bastrop Highway and Creek Road at Onion Creek. All of the work will cost less than $6,000.

The commissioners are also slated to discuss approving a resolution of support for the Driftwood Historical Conservation Society’s efforts to have the state legislature name a stretch of Farm to Market Road 150 as the William B. Travis Heritage Trail. The resolution states that in 1835, Travis bought a league of land between what are now the towns of Driftwood and Hays City. The Driftwood Historical Conservation Society is trying to persuade the legislature to name FM 150 between Ranch Road 12 and Ranch Road 3237 in honor of Travis.

In other business, the commissioners are expected to appoint County Judge-elect Ruben Becerra to the Capital Area Council of Governments General Assembly.

The Hays County Commissioners Court will meet at 9 a.m. on the third floor of the Hays County Courthouse, 111 San Antonio St. Meetings are also streamed live
