Downtown Swing Festival begins tonight

The 2019 Downtown Swing Music and Culture Festival is bringing live music to a variety of venues in downtown San Marcos for four days. The festival, which honors Western Swing music, is free and will be held rain or shine.

The festival kicks off with a performance by Big Cedar Fever in Kissing Alley Thursday night from 6-9 p.m. The performance is hosted by KZSM Community Radio. On Friday, Candler Wilkinson will play at The Coffee Bar, at the corner of LBJ and Hopkins Street, from 9-11 p.m.

On Saturday, Sugarcane Swing will play at the San Marcos Farmers Market, located on San Antonio Street on the Square, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. That night, Stonewall Warehouse will host “I Will Always Love You: A Dolly Parton Tribute” starting at 11:30.

The festival wraps up with a jazz brunch at Buzz Mill on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring Christian Wiggs.
