Early voting and absentee ballot totals

Early voting and absentee ballot totals are in, and in the county judge’s race, Democrat Ruben Becerra is slightly ahead of Republican Will Conley. Conley has 29,598 votes, or 48.34 percent of the vote, while Becerra has 31,629, or 51.66 of early and absentee votes.

Precinct 2 incumbent Mark Jones leads challenger Richard W. Cronshey with 53.13 percent of the vote to Cronshey’s 46.87 percent.

Republican Precinct 3 Commissioner Lon Shell, in the running for an unexpired term, has a less than 20-vote lead over challenger Democratic Jimmy Alan Hall with 50.04 percent (8,263 votes) of the vote compared to Hall’s 49.96 percent (8,249 votes).

In the Precinct 4 commissioner race, Republican Walt Smith leads Democrat Omar Baca by less than 1,000 votes; Smith has 9,169 votes, or 50.94 percent, compared to Baca’s 8,322, or 46.23 percent.

With early voting and absentee ballots counted, San Marcos Mayor John Thomaides trails challenger Jane Hughson by fewer than 1,000 votes. Hughson has 5,603 votes, or 53.11 percent, while Thomaides has 4,947, or 46.89 percent.

In the race to fill Hughson’s unexpired term as Place 4 council member, Shane Scott leads challengers Mark Rockeymoore and Griffin Spell. Scott has 3,892 votes, or 45.92 percent; Rockeymoore is in second place thus far with 2,710 votes, or 31.98 percent of the vote; Spell has 1,873 votes, or 22.1 percent.

In the three-way race for Place 5 on the city council, Jocabed “Joca” Marquez is in the lead with 4,083 votes, or 44.52 percent of the vote. Rick Henderson has 3,012, or 32.84 percent of the vote, and Mark Gleason has 2,077, or 22.65 percent.

And in the Place 6 race, incumbent Melissa Derrick leads challenger Juan Miguel Arredondo 5,034 votes, or 53.79 percent, to 4,325 votes, or 46.21 percent.
