Electric bike shares coming to town

 VeoRide is bringing 150 e-bikes to the city and Texas State University, expanding the bike share program that launched last September.

The city and university will host multiple events beginning today both on campus and around the downtown area to answer questions from the public.

 The teal-colored e-bikes are available on the same VeoRide app that allows riders to access the pedal bikes. Just find the e-bike icon on the map in the app, select to reserve, scan the QR code and go. The cost to rent the e-bike is $1 to unlock and 15 ¢ a minute.

 VeoRide e-bikes are designed for sweat-free pedaling, extreme durability, and the ultimate riding experience. The front-drive motor can assist riders to pedal up to 18 miles per hour and responsively adjust torque to match riding conditions, such as traveling up a hill. The motor can run up to 68 miles on a single charge, and VeoRide’s operations team will swap the battery when it needs to be charged. 

 Just like the pedal bikes, the new e-bikes can be ridden and parked in appropriate locations, as designated in the app. Riders can pick up a bicycle from the closest bike rack or parking area as shown on the mobile app and return it to the nearest bicycle rack or parking area at their destination.

 Those new to the bike share program will first need to download the VeoRide app to set up an account. Then, they can locate a bike on the mobile app. 

Once a bike is found, open Bluetooth on your phone, scan the QR code on the bike or enter the bike’s ID to unlock, and ride. At the end of the ride, park at one of many designated parking locations identified in the app, and simply push the button on the bike lock to end the trip.
