Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra authorized an emergency closure of the Hays County Government Center in San Marcos as of 3 p.m. on March 7. “A strong odor is noticed throughout the building, believed to be from a lubricant used on outside dampers that has entered the building,” Becerra posted on Facebook. “County Clerk and Tax Assessor-Collector business can be conducted at substations at the precinct offices in Dripping Springs, Kyle and Wimberley. The Government Center is expected to reopen Friday morning.”
