Festival wristbands save money

Sights & Sounds
Tuesday, November 20, 2018

It will be here before you know it — so why not go ahead and purchase wristbands for the full 8 days of the Sights & Sounds of Christmas festival, going on Nov. 28 - Dec. 1 and Dec. 5 -8 at San Marcos Plaza Park, along the river’s banks.

Wristbands are available for $15, either online or at the San Marcos Chamber of Commerce, 202 N. CM Allen Parkway.

Admission is free for children ages 12 and under; for older folks without wristbands it is $5 per day.

Pedestrian walkways will be provided to allow access through the C.M. Allen construction zone. The pathways will be 10 feet wide and handicap accessible.

Free parking and shuttle service are available from 5 - 11:30 p.m. each night in the Strahan Coliseum parking lot, 700 Aquarena Springs Drive. Handicap accessible parking is available at Strahan Coliseum, and those with mobility impairments are encouraged to use it and ride the free shuttle. All shuttles are ADA accessible.

The Grant Harris Jr. Building parking lot will not be accessible to the public and will only be used for entertainment drop off. Attendees who will be using parking other than the Strahan Coliseum lot are asked to only use pedestrian crosswalks and to follow directional signs leading them to the festival entrances.

The event features hundreds of thousands of lights, live entertainment, food booths, arts and crafts, carnival rides, ice skating, A Night in Old Bethlehem, a free petting zoo, photos with Santa Claus and much more.

Entertainment highlights this year include performances by local schoolchildren, choirs, dancers and appearances by local musicians.

Residents are encouraged to visit other city parks until the festival is concluded, as City Park and Plaza Park, and their parking lots, are now closed to the public.

Primary sponsors for this year’s Sights & Sounds are Central Texas Medical Center, Chuck Nash Auto Group and La Cima San Marcos.
