Luecke seeking seat in Congress as independent

Wednesday, August 8, 2018

Martin Luecke is an independent candidate for U.S. Congressional District 25.

Here’s what he had to say:

“It is time to build the renewable energy grid in America. It’s a 40-year project that we need to start today, and absolutely no one is talking about it.

“The two parties are content with pretending they are doing something in Washington, but the opposite is true. As an independent candidate I offer real ideas and an actual plan for the future. The two parties are trapped in their ideology and offer no plans, except to fight each other. My plan will employ half a million Texans, and many millions of Americans. It will reduce pollution and CO2. It will reduce the cost of energy. It will make Americans healthier.

“Renewable energy is just the beginning. In my plan we will make education our highest priority. I see a future when all high school seniors in America get to choose their path after graduation:  college, trade school, apprenticeship, or service (military, peace corps, etc). I propose we educate everyone, and build a system to integrate our kids into the bigger world out of high school. My plan also makes health care available to all citizens. I would call it AmeriCare.

“I am a former television reporter, air ambulance operator, and professional handyman born in a small central Texas town, the son of a newspaper publisher. I have been in the East Room of the White House with Reagan, on the sideline of the Cotton Bowl with Willie Nelson, and accepted the Best Picture Award at the Barcelona Gay and Lesbian International Film Festival. And I’m not even gay. I am a past President of the Windsor Park Neighborhood Association, I sit on the Mueller Development Advisory Commission, and I write a feature story for our monthly neighborhood newsletter called Meet Your Neighbor.

“I have two children, a  mountain bike and a huge appetite for history, civics, physics, natural science, U.S. foreign policy, mass media, and education. I have been intensely reading all of these subjects for 28 years and now I am ready to provide vision for Texas and tomorrow.”
