Making a splash at the second annual Mermaid Parade

The second annual Mermaid Promenade took place on Saturday, the morning after the Mermaid SMTX Art Ball. Mermaids paraded on floats and made their way through downtown in celebration of our city’s arts, culture, heritage and our most precious resource, the San Marcos River. See page 10A for more photos. The second annual Mermaid Promenade by Mermaid Society SMTX started on the corner of CM Allen and Cheatham Street and ended at San Marcos Plaza Park, where the Mermaid Aqua Faire began. The San Marcos River Rollers skated through the vibrant parade.

Kamyrn Harkey of Gonzales was front and center for the mermaid festivities. Dressed as a mermaid, she danced alongside the parade route in awe of the floats and costumes.

Cousins Cassy Franco and Frda Aguilar had a front row seat to the view the promenade filled with mermaids and bright colors.
