Martindale may act on new river advisory board

Sunday, November 18, 2018

The Martindale City Council will hold a special meeting Monday night that will include a discussion and possible action regarding the formation of the Martindale San Marcos River Advisory Board.

Council member Sonja Villalobos, who spearheaded efforts to form the river advisory board, had hoped that council would approve the group before voting on a potential can ban. Ten people submitted applications to be on the board and are ready to meet as soon as council gives the go-ahead, she said.

Also at Monday night’s meeting, council will canvass the results of the Nov. 6 special election, which included a non-binding proposition on the de-annexation of areas known as Butterfly Meadows and Hopson Ranch Estates.

Council is also slated to approve a property tax freeze resolution and a city administrator ordinance, change the fees for accepting credit card payments to the city and reschedule the council’s Jan. 2 meeting to Jan. 9.

Council will meet at Martindale City Hall at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
