The suspect in a deadly shooting that occurred Friday evening turned himself in early Tuesday morning, according to a press release from the city.

An-drew Stephen Jones surrendered at the Hays County Law Enforcement Center at 4 a.m. Tuesday, the city said. He is being held at the Hays County Jail on a $750,000 bond. He faces a first degree felony murder charge.

San Marcos Police obtained an arrest warrant for Jones on Saturday for a deadly shooting at Uptown Square Apartments the day before. Multiple callers said a victim had been shot in the parking lot and gave a description of the suspect. One witness stated that he was meeting the shooting victim at the apartment complex to buy drugs. While at the complex, the victim and witness were confronted by the above described subject who produced a handgun and shot the victim.  He then fled to the silver SUV and left the scene.

The victim is identified as Nicholas Devone White of Manvel, Texas. He was pronounced dead at Seton Hays by Justice of the Peace Maggie H. Moreno. His body was transported to the Travis County Medical Examiner for autopsy.

From the vehicle description, detectives were able to obtain a license plate that eventually led to the development of Jones as a suspect. Jones’ residence was located at the Pointe San Marcos Apartments, 417 N Comanche St and surveillance was conducted. The vehicle Jones used to flee the shooting was also located at the apartment complex parking garage and was impounded to be processed for physical evidence. After a thorough search, the suspect was not located in the apartment.

The shooting on April 5 was the second gun-related incident at Uptown Square within a week. On Saturday, March 30, police responded to the complex at 12:54 a.m. for reports of a man with a gun. A victim told officers a man at a party had punched him and then pulled a gun on him. The suspect, later identified as Keyshauna Maurice Brown, 19, pulled the trigger, the victim said, but the gun malfunctioned.

Police arrested Brown on April 3. He remains behind bars on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon on a bond of $100,000.

The April 5 shooting was the city’s third homicide this year. On February 13, Aaron Peterman was found shot and killed at his apartment in the 1600 block of Aquarena Springs Dr.  On February 17, Brihana Landrum was shot and killed by Adrian Diaz in the 1200 block of Hilltop Dr.  Diaz then killed himself.
