The Hays County Sheriff’s Office is enlisting the help of the public in locating a 32-year-old Kyle man who has been missing since Dec. 28.

Omar Maya-Rangel left his home in a green Ford Expedition that was located Dec. 31 near the entrance to the Blind Salamander RV Park on CR 266 near the San Marcos River and, according to HCSO Lt. Todd Riffe, his personal belongings were located inside but he has not been found.

A search by the HCSO turned up nothing, neither did his father, who spoke with residents along that stretch of the river. Riffe said Rangel’s famiy said he had been experiencing “mental health episodes” and has lost considerable weight, enough so that his appearance is different than photos the family was able to supply. He is described as 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs an estimated 130 lbs. There was no clothing description.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact Detective Lisa Mc-Neil at 512-393-7814 or lisa.mcneil@co.hays.tx.us. Those who wish to remain anonymous can contact Crime Stoppers at 800-324-TIPS.
