SMDR staffers attending festival
Politicians, journalists, authors, business leaders and policymakers are gathering in downtown Austin this week for the eighth annual Texas Tribune Festival, and San Marcos Daily Record staff members are among them.
The festival is bringing together more than 300 speakers for three days of discussion and debate on a variety of topics of national, state and local interests. The festival kicked off Thursday with a series of networking opportunities, podcast recordings and other events, and continues today and Saturday with a mixture of panel discussions, one-on-one interviews and special events.
Among the dozens of topics that will be discussed are school safety, social media’s role in democracy, women’s health care, school finance, the Texas water crisis, the criminal justice system, the foster care system and gun laws.
Daily Record staff will be covering a variety of discussions on topics relevant to our readers.
Texas Tribune Festival programming will also be nationally syndicated through an exclusive livestream arrangement and available for viewing at NBC's website, MSNBC's website, and Texas Tribune's .
More information about the Festival is available Texas Tribune's website, on Facebook and on Twitter.
