Student’s body found in Blanco

The body of a Texas State University student who had been missing for more than a week was located on Friday.

A hiker along the Blanco River near the 1400 block of River Road called authorities at approximately 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 2. San Marcos police responded and discovered the person was deceased. The San Marcos Fire Department assisted in the recovery of the body.

In a press release, the city of San Marcos said the body was that of 21-year-old Kate Rose Silva Xavier, who had been reported missing on Oct. 25. 

She was an International Studies major.

Police said her death is being investigated as a suicide. The investigation is ongoing.
