Thursday, April 25, 2019

San Marcos Police are asking residents of two student-targeted apartment complexes who have private security systems to review video from last weekend in the wake of a series of break-ins.

The complexes are the Dakota Ranch Apartments, 1818 Old Ranch Road 12, and The Edge, 1740 Old Ranch Road 12.

A resident of  Dakota Ranch woke at approximately 6:42 a.m. Sunday to find a stranger on her bed grabbing at her breast.

She yelled for help and he fled. Investigation revealed he had entered by way of the second-story balcony.

The only one to see the suspect, she described him as white or Hispanic and in his early 20s.

He was approximately five feet three inches to five feet 10 inches and of average build with dark brown or black hair wearing a white T-shirt, “green letterman style jacket.” His face was covered with either his shirt or a bandana.

Another apartment at Dakota Ranch had its locks tampered with and an apartment at The Edge was burglarized around 6 a.m. Sunday.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect in these burglaries, or pertinent security video, is asked to contact SMPD Detective Travis Davidson 512-753-2315, ddavidson@sanmarcostx.gov or Hays County CrimeStoppers 800-324-TIPS (8477).
