A new mural celebrates the Barrio del Pescado with its vibrant colors and imagery, and the public is invited to its dedication.

On Saturday, Aug. 31, at 9 a.m. the City of San Marcos will dedicate the new mural, which is located at the Conoco Fast Stop Store #6, 1101 SH 123.

According to a press release, “The mural, entitled “Bienvenidos,” was completed at the end of July and incorporates design elements suggested by neighborhood residents during two public input sessions earlier this summer.”

The artists, Jennifer Khoshbin, Celia Mendoza and Nanako Kishi, will attend the mural dedication, along with members of City Council, the City of San Marcos Arts Commission and the City of San Marcos Mural Arts Committee.

“We were truly honored to work with the City of San Marcos in collaboration with the residents of Barrio del Pescado on the ‘Bienvenidos’ mural,” Khoshbin said in a press release. “We strove to create artwork that is colorful and celebratory, with reflections of iconic symbols of the area and culture. This gateway mural celebrates this special neighborhood and we’re grateful for the community’s input and support throughout its installation.”
