Adela Celorio to read her works at Centro
At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, columnist and writer Adela Celorio will read in Spanish from her latest work, El funeral de papá, at the Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos. El Funeral de Papá is a humorous and poignant autobiographical novel that explores the relationship between the narrator and her father. Part of her work has been translated and will be read so that English speakers can also share in this event.
Adela Celorio has collaborated for over 20 years in the newspaper Unomásuno and is a frequent contributor to El Siglo de Torreón, El Siglo de Durango and the weekly magazine Siglo Nuevo. Author of the novels En Medio de Nosotros la Tele Como un dios (Editorial Diana) and Amor-didas, (Editorial Colibrí), she is known for her witty and insightful writing. She was awarded first place in the short story contest Escucharte Aun Más, and her work has been included in anthologies published by Editorial Terracota and the Casa Sinaloense de Cultura. She has coordinated the literary workshop “Alicia Trueba” since 1995.
There will be a question and answer session after the reading, and refreshments will be served. The book will also be available for purchase. The Centro Cultural Hispano de San Marcos is located at 211 Lee Street. This event is free and public.
