Authorities remove animals from Buda home
Hays County authorities removed 161 cats and 15 dogs from a home in the 200 block of Towhee Drive in Buda Thursday afternoon. The animals were said to be in “various health states.”
Following up on a call regarding “inhumane animal care,” animal control officers discovered and rescued the animals after speaking with occupants of the home, who reportedly identified themselves as a “nonprofit organization responsible for the care, custody and welfare of the animals,” Lt. Todd Riffe of the Hays County Sheriff’s Office said in a press release Friday afternoon. “ The investigation is ongoing and all of the animals have been removed from the residence for welfare concerns and investigative purposes,” he said.
