Buda Police Department acquires permanent MedReturn drop box

Sunday, June 16, 2019

Are you trying to empty out your medicine cabinet but don’t know where to take unwanted or unused medications? The Buda Police Department has a solution. You can now dispose of excess and expired prescriptions, including over-the-counter medications, at a drop box located in the lobby of the Buda Police Department (405 E. Loop St., Bldg. 200).

“We participate twice a year in the DEA’s Drug-Take Back initiative which is always incredibly successful so we wanted to implement something our citizens could use all year,” Brittany Tate, Executive Assistant to the Police Chief said.

The goal of the safe and secure drop box is to help reduce the supply of drugs that can potentially harm teens and adults in Buda.

“Many law enforcement agencies have drug collection units in their lobbies and the MedReturn Drug Collection Unit worked perfect for us. The effort is to provide citizens a safe and easily accessible location to dispose of unused medication and to aid in preventing substance abuse,” said Tate.

The collection site is open Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The drug collection unit is produced by MedReturn, LLC of Grafton, WI. MedReturn is committed to providing a safe, secure and environmentally friendly way to help law enforcement agencies and communities collect unwanted or expired household medication, including prescriptions, over-the-counter drugs and unused pharmaceuticals.
