Candidate filing deadline is Monday

The deadline to file to run for a seat on the San Marcos City Council or the mayor’s office is 5 p.m. tomorrow.

So far, candidates for mayor include the incumbent John Thomaides, Place 4 council member Jane Hughson and Brian Henderson. The race for Hughson’s unexpired council term has Griffin Spell, Shane Scott and Mark Rockeymoore in competition. Candidates for Place 5 on the city council, currently held by Scott Gregson, are Jocabed Marquez, Mark Gleason and Rick Henderson. In the Place 6 race, incumbent Melissa Derrick is facing challenger Miguel Arredondo.
