City’s sales tax rebate rises in April

TAX ALLOCATIONS

The city of San Marcos is on track to receive another double-digit sales tax allocation from the State Comptroller’s Office , one of only two Hays County taxing entities to achieve that return.

The city will receive $2,281,831.68 for its April allotment — which generally reflects sales that occurred in February. That amount is 16.2 percent bigger than the city’s rebate in April 2017 and 39.22 percent over that of the first four months of last year.

Elsewhere in the county:

• Buda’s return was almost flat compared to last year. Buda’s April allocation of $475,299.89 is .19 percent higher than a year ago. In year-to-date figures, Buda is up 10.42 percent.

• Dripping Springs’ monthly allocation is $150,357.23, an increase of 5.94 compared to last April. So far this year, allocations are running 11.25 percent higher than in 2017.

• Hays City’s April check is for $938.01, down 25.25 percent compared to a year ago. On the upside, year-todate allocations are ahead by 20.44 percent.

• Kyle’s return this month was $519,728.54, which is an increase of 5.98 percent. So far this year, Kyle’s allocations are 8.12 percent higher than a year ago.

• Mountain City’s allocation shot up by 74.39 percent to $1,424.59 for the month. For the year, Mountain City is ahead by 60.60 percent.

• Niederwald’s monthly allocation crept down by only .07 percent to $2,379.56. In year-to-date allocations, Niederwald is still up by 5.59 percent.

• Uhland’s April payment is $14,510.84, representing an increase of 1.5 percent. So far this year, Uhland’s payments are 7.47 percent ahead of 2017.

• Wimberley’s monthly allocation slipped by 2.71 percent, down to $57,713.89. The city is down 1.33 percent for the year.

• Woodcreek’s monthly allocation of $3,177.91, down by 3.77 percent. In year-todate payments, Woodcreek’s rebates have increased by 13.40 percent.

Statewide, Comptroller Glenn Hegar said, allocations were up by 5 percent.
